People of the Hmong Tribes
Following the legend Hmong people came from a country with “cold winters and long nights”. It is believed that Hmongs are descendants of the San Miao, which were mentioned in earlier writings of Chinese Kingdoms (2852 to 2255 before Christ). In these writings the San Miao were against the chinese emperor, because they desired their own written language (Hmong of our days have their own writing system). But this revolution led only to the suppression by the Chinese.

Green Chilli Dip (Nam Prick Num)
Nam Prick Num means “dip made of young chilli peppers” and it’s taste proves that not every chilli dip has to be hot and spicy. When prepared in the correct way it tastes mild and refreshing. Important for this is to get the right chilli. Too bad we can not try the chilies before we buy them, so we will not know if the peppers are hot or not. I wish you good luck with your chilli selection. If you don’t want to use chilli, you can use green bell peppers – that way you also be 100% sure that your dip will be mild.

Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday Celebration
The celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (Mawlid an-Nabi) is very common among Muslims and it takes place on the 12th day of the third month of the Muslim calendar, which was this year on 12th of July. What is interesting, some countries, mostly Saudi Arabia discourage the celebration of Muhammad’s birthday since it is often the occasion for the excessive veneration (it is kind of behavior which is against Muslims’ rules).
